About Us

“Where Tradition Meets Trusted, Personal Care.”

Rooted in History, Committed to Care

At St Mary’s Nursing Home, we’re proud to stand on over a century of caring tradition. Located on the historic grounds of the former St Mary’s Hospital, our site has served the community with compassion and dignity since 1912 — first as an isolation hospital, then as a maternity hospital from 1948 through the 1970s.

In 1985, the site was lovingly transformed by Simon Northover and his family, who converted two of the original wards into residential accommodation. The doors to St Mary’s Nursing Home officially opened in 1986, welcoming residents into a warm, family-run environment rooted in personal care.

By 1992, our team recognised the growing need for more private, dignified spaces. This led to a complete redevelopment of the site, replacing shared wards with purpose-built en suite rooms and enhanced facilities. In 1994, St Mary’s reopened its doors with a fresh vision — one that blends modern standards with our deeply personal approach to care.
